Three More Arrested As Evidence Tampering Links To Fatal October Shooting Of Tampa Teen

TAMPA, Fla. – A months-long investigation into the death of 17-year-old Trevaun Johnson took a new turn this week as the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office picked up three additional suspects on warrants. Edward Lee, 28, Dariana McLean, 20, and Kelvyn Diaz Jr., 20, were taken into custody on Friday and now face charges of tampering with evidence and perjury.

The case traces back to the night of October 21, 2025, when 911 dispatchers received a call regarding a shooting at the 10000 block of Country Hollow Drive.

Deputies arriving at the scene found Johnson deceased inside a vehicle with several gunshot wounds. Investigators eventually determined that the violence broke out during an attempted armed robbery involving multiple people.

In December, detectives arrested 18-year-old Cordaryl Johnson Jr. in connection with the killing. He was charged with second-degree felony murder, armed burglary, and attempted armed robbery.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Cordaryl Johnson had also sustained a gunshot wound during the initial incident.

The latest arrests follow a forensic trail that led detectives to a hospital in Pasco County. Investigators found that individuals attempted to hide or get rid of items from the vehicle involved in the shooting.

While those items were discarded, law enforcement successfully recovered the evidence and used forensic analysis to link it directly back to the crime scene on Country Hollow Drive.

“This case shows our commitment to getting to the truth and holding everyone involved accountable. Trying to hide or tamper with evidence will not stop us from finding the facts,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to ensure justice is served.”

While the primary suspect for the shooting remains in custody, the Sheriff’s Office noted that this remains an active investigation.
