Three Years Later, Justice Still Elusive In Fatal Winter Haven Hit-And-Run

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – On November 25, 2021, the life of 44-year-old Roy Newton Jr. was tragically cut short in a hit-and-run accident. Despite ongoing efforts, the person responsible for this crime remains unidentified.

The incident occurred on Carl Floyd Road near Executive Road South. Newton, riding a motorized bike, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

While initially conscious and speaking with first responders, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries on December 2, 2021.

Investigators recovered a side-view mirror from the crash scene, identifying the vehicle as a gray Lexus ES 350. Despite this lead, the driver remains at large.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-888-400-TIPS (8477). A reward may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
