Federal and state law enforcement have arrested an Afghan national in Texas after he allegedly broadcast a video of himself constructing an explosive device and threatening the Fort Worth area.

Authorities identified the suspect as Mohammad Dawood Alokozay. He was taken into custody on Tuesday following a joint operation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Alokozay now faces state-level charges of making a terroristic threat.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the investigation began after Alokozay allegedly posted footage to TikTok that appeared to show him assembling a bomb with specific intent to target a location in Fort Worth.

Following his arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a formal detainer against him.

Records indicate Alokozay entered the United States through the Operation Allies Welcome program—a resettlement initiative launched following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. He was admitted as a lawful permanent resident in September 2022.

The arrest has intensified the national conversation on vetting procedures, occurring just 24 hours before a separate, unrelated incident in Washington, D.C., where another Afghan national—also admitted under the same program—allegedly opened fire on National Guard troops.

In response to the arrests, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin highlighted the timing of the threats, while the White House signaled a pivot in policy.

President Trump’s administration has since directed a comprehensive review of vetting protocols for foreign nationals entering the country, with officials stating that stricter scrutiny is being implemented immediately.

Alokozay remains held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center as the investigation continues.
