PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County Schools hit a major milestone this week, announcing that the district’s graduation rate has climbed to an all-time high.

According to data released by the district, nearly 97 percent of seniors in the 2024–25 school year earned their diplomas, capping off a significant upward trend observed over the last five years. The new rate of 96.9% represents a massive leap in student success metrics, particularly when compared to the 2021–22 school year, when rates briefly dipped to 90.2%.

The numbers show a sharp trajectory of improvement, specifically in the last two academic cycles:

  • 2020–21: 91.0%
  • 2021–22: 90.2%
  • 2022–23: 91.1%
  • 2023–24: 95.5%
  • 2024–25: 96.9%

District officials credit the surge to a combination of stricter academic standards and a renewed focus on career and college readiness.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, families, teachers, and staff for this incredible achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. John Legg regarding the announcement. “The steady increase reflects a collective commitment to supporting every student. While we celebrate this progress, we know there is still work to do, and we remain focused on continued growth for all students.”

The district noted that the record-breaking numbers aren’t just about handing out diplomas, but ensuring students have a “clear plan” for what comes next. By leveraging partnerships with local workforce leaders and community organizations, Pasco schools have aimed to tighten the safety net that keeps at-risk students on track for graduation.
