A top public health expert says he agrees with the assessment of Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo: that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines present a threat of elevated heart disease in young men.

In an interview, Friday with the conservative website The Daily Wire, Dr. Marty Makary of Johns Hopkins University pointed to a recent study from Cedars Sinai Medical Center in California that found heart attack deaths increased 30% among people 25 and 44 during the first two years of the pandemic.

“One theory holds that the uptick could be the result of COVID itself, while another places blame on the vaccine,” Daily Wire reported. “Makary said there is evidence for the latter.”

“We did not see the uptick before the vaccine was rolled out, but, young people were primarily affected around that same time as well,” Makary told Daily Wire.

He then cited the Florida Department of Health’s study of vaccine-related heart attacks.

As The Free Press reported at the time, Dr. Ladapo urged men 18-39 to avoid the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna.

He did so after a DOH review of death certificates revealed that cardiac-related death among men in that age group soared by 84% within 28 days of an mRNA vaccination.

Liberals rejected Ladapo’s finding as junk science, saying it was not a true scientific study. For example, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist, who was crushed by incumbent Florida GOP Gov. Ron Desantis in November, dismissed Dr. Ladapo as a “quack.”

Yet, in his interview, Makary noted, “So many people do believe that the vaccine is one of the causes of heart problems in young people.” He maintained that myocarditis, which causes inflammation of the heart, seems most prevalent after the second dose of the vaccine. Accordingly, Daily Wire reported, parts of Europe are telling young, healthy people to skip the second jab.

Dr. Makary rejected claims by some in the medical community that myocarditis occurs more often after actual COVID than the vaccine. Yet the data shows a young man is 28 times more likely to suffer myocarditis after getting the vaccine than after contracting COVID, Makary said.

“According to Makary, all the data suggests it may be a bad idea for young healthy adults, especially males, to get the vaccine. Young males between 16 and 30 have a higher risk of myocarditis than their female peers by a factor of nine to one,” Daily Wire reported.

“They have the lowest benefit from a vaccine because they are the lowest risk of any COVID complications,” Makary told the outlet.

“We still don’t know if any young, healthy person has ever died of COVID in the United States. The CDC won’t tell us, and they’ve never broken the data down by young people who are healthy versus had a comorbidity like leukemia or an immunosuppression condition.”
