Roadwork on US 19, US 41, and SR 44 will cause periodic delays and detours from September 14-20.
CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced a series of lane closures for the week of September 14-20, impacting major roadways throughout Citrus County. Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and use caution while traveling through construction zones.
Starting Sunday, September 14, and continuing through the week, multiple projects will be underway. On US 19, from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail, drivers can expect periodic night lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. Additionally, day lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Two other key routes will also be affected. On US 41, between E. Grace Street and E. Hill Street, night lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Friday nights.
SR 44, from US 41 to the Sumter County line (including the bridge over the Withlacoochee River), will see both day and night closures. Night lane closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Friday nights, while day lane closures are planned from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
FDOT officials are urging drivers to remain attentive to signage, reduce their speed in work zones, and consider alternate routes to avoid congestion. The closures are part of ongoing maintenance and improvement projects aimed at enhancing road safety and infrastructure.

Commuters and residents are encouraged to stay informed about real-time traffic updates through the Florida 511 system or by checking the FDOT District 7 website. The projects are weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
