HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Hillsborough County should brace for significant traffic impacts as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced an extensive list of lane closures scheduled for maintenance and construction projects between Sunday, October 5, and Saturday, October 11, 2025.
The closures span major interstates, bridges, and primary roadways, with much of the work occurring during nighttime hours, though several projects will affect daytime travel.
Interstate Closures Highlighted
Commuters utilizing the major interstate system will face several nightly closures:
- I-4 will see nightly lane closures between Mango Road and McIntosh Road from Monday, October 6 through Thursday, October 9, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- I-75 from SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) to Fowler Avenue will have nightly lane closures from Monday, October 6 through Friday, October 10, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Additionally, a continuous shoulder closure on I-75 from the Tampa Bypass Canal to Fowler Avenue remains in effect 24 hours a day through November 7.
- I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge) connecting Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will have lane closures nightly from Sunday, October 5 through Saturday, October 11, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Tampa Airport Access Affected
Travelers heading to Tampa International Airport should note the I-275 southbound entrance ramp from George J. Bean Parkway and Memorial Highway will be affected by nightly lane closures from Sunday, October 5 through Friday, October 10, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Key Roadway Disruptions
Numerous arterial and surface roads across the county will also experience closures:
- US 41 (Nebraska Avenue) at Idlewild Avenue: Nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday, October 5 through Thursday, October 9.
- US 92 (Dale Mabry Highway) from Ballast Point Boulevard to Sevilla Street will have nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, October 5 through Thursday, October 9.
- SR 60 has multiple projects, including westbound closures on Memorial Highway near the Veterans Expressway and nightly work on Kennedy Boulevard and Adamo Drive.
Motorists should plan for potential delays, especially during overnight hours, and consider alternate routes where available. FDOT advises drivers to remain vigilant in work zones and adhere to all posted signage.
