Traffic Alert: Nighttime Ramp Closures Continue At Tampa Airport Access Points

TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists traveling from Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Spruce Street should continue to prepare for nighttime ramp closures affecting access to westbound State Road (SR) 60 (Memorial Highway) and northbound SR 589 (Veterans Expressway).

The ongoing closures are necessary to allow for final paving operations as part of the widening project on westbound SR 60 near the airport.

Closure Schedule and Duration

The ramps will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the following schedule, weather permitting:

  • Sunday through Thursday, November 2 – November 6 (Currently in progress)
  • Sunday through Thursday, November 9 – November 13 (Excluding Tuesday, November 11)
  • Sunday through Thursday, November 16 – November 20

Detour Information

Drivers are advised to use the following temporary detours during the closure hours:

  • For Drivers Exiting Tampa International Airport: Stay right at the Spruce Street fork, continue traveling east, then turn right onto Westshore Boulevard, and take another right onto Kennedy Boulevard to reach SR 60 and SR 589.
  • For Westbound Traffic on Spruce Street: Traffic must detour via Westshore Boulevard and Kennedy Boulevard to access SR 60 and SR 589.

Driver Caution Urged

Transportation officials have placed advanced warning signs and message boards throughout the area to guide traffic. Motorists are strongly urged to use caution while navigating the work zone, remain alert for construction workers, and allow for extra travel time.
