TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists traveling in and out of Tampa International Airport (TPA) and along Spruce Street should prepare for continued nighttime ramp closures. The temporary closures, which affect the ramps leading to westbound SR 60 (Memorial Highway) and northbound SR 589 (Veterans Expressway), are scheduled from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.

The closures are necessary to allow crews to complete final paving operations as part of the ongoing widening project for westbound SR 60. The scheduled dates for the closures are September 7-11, September 14-18, September 21-25, and September 28-October 2, weather permitting.

To navigate the closures, motorists exiting Tampa International Airport are advised to use the Spruce Street ramp, stay to the right, and proceed eastbound on Spruce Street. From there, drivers should turn right onto Westshore Boulevard, then another right onto Kennedy Boulevard, which will provide access to the SR 60 and SR 589 ramps.

Similarly, drivers on westbound Spruce Street will be detoured around the work zone by using Westshore Boulevard and Kennedy Boulevard to reach SR 60 and SR 589.

Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards are in place to help guide vehicles through the affected areas. Drivers are urged to use caution, remain alert for construction workers, and allow for extra travel time. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reminds the public that these closures are a crucial step toward completing the infrastructure improvements in this busy corridor.
