The department appreciates the public’s understanding and thanks them for their cooperation.

ORIGINAL REPORT: The Pinellas Park Police Department, in collaboration with the Pinellas County Traffic Operations division, has announced a temporary lane closure and modified traffic pattern for Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the intersection of Park Boulevard and 49th Street. The closure is necessary to allow for emergency repairs to a traffic light control box.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the traffic signals at the intersection will be de-energized, requiring police assistance to manage the flow of traffic. To ensure public safety and minimize congestion, a temporary traffic pattern will be implemented.

Key Changes to Traffic Flow:

  • Park Boulevard: Eastbound and westbound traffic on Park Boulevard will be limited to the median and middle lanes. The curb lanes will be closed. Motorists will not be permitted to make left turns at the intersection.
  • 49th Street: Northbound and southbound traffic on 49th Street will be required to make a continuous right turn onto Park Boulevard. The curb lane closure on Park Boulevard is intended to facilitate this right-turn-only movement.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area and seek alternate routes during the repair period. For those who must travel through the intersection, the Pinellas Park Police Department advises exercising extreme caution, slowing down, and refraining from using cellular devices.

Motorists are reminded to be patient and follow all instructions from officers on-site to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic. The department anticipates the repairs will be completed and the normal traffic pattern will be restored by 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
