HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters in the Citrus Park area are advised to prepare for significant traffic disruptions as Race Track Road will undergo a three-day full closure this weekend, followed by an extended southbound lane closure for utility work.

The initial closure will affect Race Track Road just north of South Mobley Road to Sri Chinmoy Street. This stretch will be completely shut down from 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, through 6 a.m. Monday, June 30. Drivers are urged to seek alternative routes during this period to avoid severe congestion.

Following the weekend closure, the southbound lane of Race Track Road, from just north of South Mobley Road to Sri Chinmoy Street, will be closed for an estimated six to eight weeks. This extended closure is necessary to allow crews to conduct underground work on the sewer force main pipe.

During the southbound lane closure, one lane of Race Track Road will remain open. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to manage alternating travel for both northbound and southbound traffic. This setup is expected to cause delays, and commuters should factor in extra travel time or consider detours.

Hillsborough County officials recommend that drivers utilize South Mobley Road and Gunn Highway as primary alternatives to bypass the work area and minimize delays.
