TAMPA, Fla. – If your daily commute takes you near the intersection of West De Leon Street and South Grady Avenue, you are going to need a detour starting today.

As of 9 a.m. this morning, the Tampa Water Department will completely close off that intersection to repair a water main break. Crews are already on the scene, and you will see barricades and signs set up to help guide traffic around the work zone.

If you have to drive through the neighborhood, please take it slow and keep an eye out for workers.

The city expects the road to remain closed for a few days. The current plan is to wrap up the repairs and get traffic moving normally again by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 30.

However, keep in mind that construction schedules can always change if the weather gets bad or if the repairs turn out to be more complicated than expected.

The Water Department also noted that crews might need to come back at a later date to finish additional work, but they will send out another update if that happens. For now, they are asking everyone to be patient while they get the pipe fixed and the road reopened.
