PLANT CITY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop in Plant City on Wednesday led Hillsborough County deputies to a large stockpile of illegal narcotics, high-powered firearms, and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.
Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Gun Intelligence Unit pulled over a vehicle on August 26, 2026. During the roadside stop, detectives uncovered nine ounces of cocaine inside the car.
The discovery prompted investigators to obtain a court-authorized search warrant for the driver’s residence. Upon executing the warrant, detectives searched the home and recovered 16.2 pounds of cocaine, one pound of methamphetamine, and $79,510 in currency.
Along with the drugs and cash, authorities located an assortment of illegal weapons inside the residence. Detectives seized five firearms, which included an AK-platform rifle and a Kel-Tec submachine gun.
Investigators also recovered three illegal automatic conversion devices, commonly referred to as “switches,” which convert semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic weapons.
Following the search, deputies took 33-year-old Lino Moctezuma Rosas into custody. Moctezuma Rosas faces charges of armed trafficking in cocaine between 400 grams and 150 kilograms, along with several additional firearm and narcotics-related offenses.
