WILDWOOD, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy from Wildwood lost his life Tuesday night after he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross State Road 44.
The crash occurred just before 10 p.m., west of County Road 229. According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, a 21-year-old man from Lady Lake was driving a Toyota Tacoma eastbound when the teenager stepped into the path of the vehicle.

The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian.
The teen suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
