Tragedy On Tampa Road: 6-Year-Old Girl Dies Following April Oldsmar Collision

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A six-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred late last month at a busy Oldsmar intersection. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the child passed away on Wednesday, May 6, nearly a week after the initial accident.

The collision took place at approximately 4:42 p.m. on April 30, 2026. According to investigators from the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), 27-year-old Jayanna Clark was traveling eastbound on Tampa Road in a 2015 Nissan Altima.

At the same time, 52-year-old Christy Proctor was heading westbound in a 2021 Tesla Model 3, positioned in the turn lane to head south onto St. Petersburg Drive.

Both vehicles entered the intersection simultaneously, resulting in a collision in the center of the roadway.

Emergency responders transported everyone involved to local hospitals. Proctor and Clark were treated for minor injuries.

However, the two children in Clark’s vehicle suffered much more severe consequences. While the six-year-old girl has now succumbed to her injuries, the other passenger, a four-year-old boy, was treated for serious injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Deputies noted that speed appears to have played a role in the crash, though they have ruled out impairment as a factor. The children’s names have not been released. The investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains ongoing.
