OLDSMAR, Fla. – An 88-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a school bus in a crosswalk, prompting an investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Forrest Lakes Boulevard and Pine Avenue.
According to PCSO, 75-year-old Timothy Mullin was driving a school bus and was in the process of turning left from Pine Avenue onto Forrest Lakes Boulevard when he struck 88-year-old Julio Cobaich.
Cobaich was reportedly crossing Forrest Lakes Boulevard from north to south within the designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Mr. Cobaich was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin has been notified.
The bus driver and two juveniles who were on the bus at the time of the crash were reported to be uninjured.
Investigators have stated that neither speed nor impairment appears to be a contributing factor in the tragic crash. The Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing its investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
