HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A highway exit turned fatal on Friday afternoon, leaving a local motorcyclist dead after a single-vehicle accident.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, around 4:00 PM, a 61-year-old Tampa man was traveling southbound on State Road 589 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Troopers stated that the rider attempted to exit the highway at Waters Avenue. While exiting, the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle, drifted onto the roadway shoulder, and collided with a tree.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the rider suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
