President Donald Trump signed a major energy rollback in the Oval Office, targeting rules on commercial refrigerators and freezers. Florida Senator Ashley Moody and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin joined the president for the official signing.
The new measures undo rules set by the previous Biden administration. Specifically, the actions change the 2023 Technology Transitions Rule and alter a 2024 emissions target rule. Supporters of the rollback state that these changes will lower prices for everyday shoppers, save Americans more than $2 billion a year, and protect hundreds of thousands of jobs.
The rules being changed set limits on the types of liquids, called refrigerants, used to keep food cold. Opponents of the rules said they drove up food prices by making it much more expensive to transport cold foods to grocery stores and restaurants.

Senator Moody pushed the change forward using a special voting process called the Congressional Review Act during her first 100 days in the Senate. Before entering the Senate, Moody fought against similar vehicle and highway environmental rules as Florida’s Attorney General.
“I was very pleased to join President Trump at the White House as he signed important actions to roll back costly and burdensome Biden-era Green New Deal regulations,” Moody said. “For years—as both Florida’s Attorney General and now as U.S. Senator—I have fought back against these harmful, ultra-progressive policies that drive up costs, hurt businesses, and undermine economic growth. I’ll keep working to cut unnecessary federal red tape and support our Florida businesses.”
