TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay residents face a week of typical summer heat alongside daily storm chances, with heat indexes climbing as high as 107 degrees on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday brings a 60% chance of precipitation across the region. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the morning and early afternoon, becoming likely showers and possible thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., then scattering again later in the day.
The daytime high will reach near 93 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with light winds shifting to west-northwest at around 5 mph. Rainfall amounts will generally range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, though localized amounts could be higher during stronger storms.
Conditions will quiet down Thursday evening, with only isolated storms possible before 10 p.m. and an overnight low near 76 degrees.
The pattern continues into Friday, with a 50% chance of rain mainly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Temperatures will peak near 92 degrees, with heat indexes reaching 104 degrees, before dropping to an overnight low around 76.
Over the weekend, daily highs will hover around 91 degrees with nighttime lows in the mid-70s. Saturday features a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, while Sunday sees the chance of rain rise slightly to 50%, mostly after 8 a.m.
Heading into next week, sunny skies will dominate the mornings before scattered afternoon storms develop. Highs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will hold in the low to mid-90s, with rain chances remaining between 30% and 40% each day.
