Tropical Storm Gordon Active; New System Threatens US Southeast Coast

The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring Tropical Storm Gordon in the central tropical Atlantic and a developing low-pressure system off the southeastern US coast.

This new low-pressure system, currently producing gale-force winds, has the potential to develop into a subtropical or tropical storm within the next 48 hours.

Regardless of its classification, it’s expected to bring significant impacts to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic coasts, including:

  • Gusty winds
  • Heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding
  • Coastal flooding
  • Dangerous beach conditions

Residents in these areas are urged to stay updated on the system’s progress through local National Weather Service forecasts and High Seas Forecasts.
