The National Hurricane Center Is keeping its eye on a storm that is brewing with high potential to form into a tropical storm.

Invest 98-L located several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands, is one storm that may have an impact on Florida.

“The system continues to show signs of organization, and it will likely become a tropical depression within the next two or three days. The disturbance is forecast to move west-northwestward across the southern Windward Islands by late today and then move toward the central Caribbean Sea later this week,” the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

“Interests in the Windward Islands should closely monitor the progress of this system as heavy rainfall and gusty winds are affecting these islands. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is forecast to affect northwestern Venezuela, northeastern Colombia, and the ABC island chain later this week, said NHC.

The system is given a 70% chance of formation in 48 hours and a 90% chance of formation in five days.

One model from windy.com, has the storm forming and impacting the Gulf Coast of Florida before making its way out of the state late next week. As with all storms, predicting this far out, when and if they will form, and what land mass, if any, they will impact is difficult for meteorologists.
