HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A mechanical failure sparked a truck fire Friday afternoon, forcing authorities to shut down the ramp in Hillsborough County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the scene around 4:20 PM on April 17, finding the vehicle engulfed on the northbound ramp leading from US-301 to I-75.
Emergency crews worked to contain the blaze, which officials confirmed was caused by a technical issue within the truck rather than a collision. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The ramp remains closed to all traffic as of late Friday afternoon while crews clear the charred remains of the vehicle and assess the roadway for damage.
State troopers have warned motorists to expect significant travel delays in the surrounding area. Drivers are currently being diverted and are encouraged to seek alternate routes until the scene is cleared.
