Trump And Xi Face Off: Fox News Heads To Beijing For Exclusive Summit Access

Fox News Channel is taking over the airwaves in Beijing this week, securing the first sit-down interviews with President Donald Trump immediately following his high-stakes meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The network announced a massive programming shift to cover the United States-China summit, deploying its top anchors and correspondents to the Chinese capital to capture the fallout of the diplomatic encounter.

The primary event features Sean Hannity, who will conduct the first interview with President Trump after the meeting with President Xi concludes. That interview is scheduled to air during Hannity on Thursday, May 14th, in its usual 9:00 PM ET slot.

The coverage doesn’t end there, as chief political anchor Bret Baier is also set to sit down with the president for a follow-up interview airing Friday, May 15th, on Special Report.

The network’s footprint in Beijing started expanding today, with a heavy rotation of live broadcasts. Bill Hemmer is currently co-anchoring America’s Newsroom from the ground in China, a role he will maintain through Thursday.

Both Baier and Hannity will move their respective nightly programs to the region for the Wednesday and Thursday broadcasts to provide real-time analysis as the summit progresses.

Back in the states, Trace Gallagher is handling the late-night desk for Fox News @ Night from Los Angeles, leaning on correspondent Jonathan Hunt for overnight updates from the summit floor. On the ground in Beijing, the reporting team includes senior White House correspondents Jacqui Heinrich and Peter Doocy, along with Aishah Hasnie, to track the movements of the two world leaders.

The media blitz extends beyond the main television channel. Fox Business Network is running specialized programming for the duration of the trip, while Fox News Digital is managing a live blog and continuous homepage updates for those following the summit online.

Fox News Audio and various podcast programs, including The Fox News Rundown, are also pivoting their schedules to provide pre- and post-analysis of the Trump-Xi discussions.

Daytime radio hosts Brian Kilmeade, Jimmy Failla, and Guy Benson will also be featuring journalists and commentators throughout the week to break down the geopolitical implications of the meetings.
