At the annual National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, President Donald Trump announced a sweeping executive order aimed at combating anti-Christian bias and religious persecution across the United States.
The order, to be implemented in conjunction with Attorney General Pam Bondi, establishes a new task force dedicated to eradicating discrimination and violence against Christians and other religious believers.
“To confront such weaponization and religious persecution today, I’m signing an executive order to make our attorney general, who’s a great person—she’s going to be a great attorney general, Pam Bondi—the head of a brand-new task force to eradicate anti-Christian bias,” President Trump declared. “It’s about time, right? Anti-Christian bias—yeah, they’ve never heard of that one before, right? But it’s about time, isn’t it?”
The newly formed task force will focus on addressing anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within federal agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). President Trump criticized these agencies, calling their past actions “absolutely terrible” and vowing to hold them accountable.
In addition to addressing bias within the government, the task force will work to prosecute acts of anti-Christian violence and vandalism across the country.
“The mission of this task force will be to immediately hold all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government,” Trump said. “It will also work to fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society and to move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.”

The President emphasized the importance of religious liberty, stating, “If we don’t have religious liberty, then we don’t have a free country. We probably don’t even have a country.”
The task force will be led by Pastor Paula White, a longtime spiritual advisor to President Trump. “Led by Pastor Paula White, who is so amazing,” Trump said, drawing applause from the audience. “We will protect Christians in our schools, our military, our government, our workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares. And we will bring our country back together as one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”
Trump also reflected on the broader significance of faith in American life. “Throughout history, those who have sought control and domination over others have always tried to cut the people off from their connection to their Creator,” he said. “Every nation with big dreams and great ambition has recognized that there is no recourse more precious than the faith in the hearts of our people. It’s the thing that makes our nation great.”

In a deeply personal moment, President Trump recounted the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, where he narrowly avoided death. “A shot that should not have been,” he said, describing how he turned at just the right moment to avoid a potentially fatal outcome. “If I didn’t make that turn, it would have been over. And you would have somebody else speaking today.”
Trump credited divine intervention for his safety, quoting his son Don Jr., who told him, “Dad, you got saved by God.” The President added, “You could say it’s a miracle or you could say something, but it was really God that saved me.”
