President Donald Trump has declared a sweeping trade and security victory on Truth Social, announcing that South Korea has agreed to a massive financial package in exchange for a reduction in U.S. tariffs.

The president stated that South Korea has agreed to pay the U.S. $350 Billion for a lowering of tariffs charged against them. He also claimed the deal includes vast purchases of American Oil and Gas, and new investments from wealthy South Korean companies and businessmen that will “exceed $600 Billion” in the U.S.

On the security front, President Trump reported that the military alliance is “stronger than ever” and, based on that, he has given South Korea approval to build a nuclear-powered submarine. This marks a significant shift from the current fleet of diesel-powered submarines.

“A great trip, with a great Prime Minister!” President Trump wrote.

The announced deal follows months of intense negotiations prompted by the Trump administration’s tariffs on South Korean imports.

The move to approve a nuclear-powered submarine for South Korea is particularly noteworthy, given the U.S. government’s previous reluctance to support its ally’s development of these capabilities.

This is a developing story.
