President cites “despicable” violence against ICE, links attack to broader “Domestic Terrorism Networks.”
Following a deadly shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas that killed two immigrant detainees, President Donald Trump released a statement on Truth Social, directly blaming what he called “Radical Left Democrats” for the violence. The shooter had inscribed “Anti-ICE” on their shell casings.
“The Brave Men and Women of ICE are just trying to do their jobs, and remove the ‘WORST of the WORST’ Criminals out of our Country, but they are facing an unprecedented increase in threats, violence, and attacks by Deranged Radical Leftists,” President Trump wrote.
He linked the attack to what he described as a pattern of violence from “Radical Left Terrorists,” also mentioning the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The President’s remarks came after a former ICE official, Veronica Cardenas, appeared on MSNBC, where she stated that the Trump administration’s rhetoric about illegal immigrants had contributed to a rise in attacks on detention facilities.
Cardenas did not mention the anti-ICE rhetoric from Democrats or the shooter’s specific motivation.
However, President Trump directly addressed this, stating that the violence is “the result of the Radical Left Democrats constantly demonizing Law Enforcement, calling for ICE to be demolished, and comparing ICE Officers to ‘Nazis.'” He specifically cited prominent Democrats who have compared ICE agents to “slave patrols” and the “modern-day Gestapo.”
The President vowed to take action, announcing plans to sign an Executive Order to “dismantle these Domestic Terrorism Networks” and reaffirming his commitment to supporting law enforcement, securing the border, and deporting violent criminals. “I AM CALLING ON ALL DEMOCRATS TO STOP THIS RHETORIC AGAINST ICE AND AMERICA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT, RIGHT NOW!” his statement concluded.
The shooting, which occurred early Wednesday morning, killed two detainees. No ICE agents were harmed. This incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks on immigration facilities, including an ambush in Alvarado, Texas, and another shooting at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, both of which happened in July.
