President Donald J. Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to voice sharp frustration with the U.S. Supreme Court, specifically targeting Republican-appointed justices following a high-stakes legal decision regarding tariffs. The President’s comments highlighted a growing rift between the White House and the conservative wing of the high court over fiscal and immigration policies.
In a lengthy post, the President criticized the court for a ruling that he claims will result in a “$159 Billion Dollar pile of cash” being handed back in tariff refunds.
Trump described the financial outcome as a “travesty” and a “slap in the face to the U.S.A.,” arguing that the justices failed to protect the country’s economic interests against those who have been “ripping off our country for years.”

The President’s critique extended beyond the recent tariff decision to the ongoing debate over birthright citizenship. He signaled concern that the court might rule against his administration’s stance on the issue, which he claimed would cost the nation its “dignity.”
“It was meant for the babies of slaves, not for the babies of Chinese Billionaires,” Trump wrote, referring to the original intent of the 14th Amendment. He argued that the United States is an outlier in its current application of the law, stating that “virtually NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD IS STUPID ENOUGH TO ALLOW” such a policy.
Throughout the post, Trump contrasted the voting patterns of the court’s liberal and conservative wings. He alleged that Democratic justices “stick together like glue” and vote as a consistent “BLOCK,” while accusing certain Republican-appointed justices of going “weak, stupid, and bad.”

“The Republican Justices don’t stick together, they give the Democrats win after win,” Trump posted, adding that the court is effectively already “packed” against his movement’s interests.
He specifically pointed to the line of questioning during recent oral arguments as a sign that the court may be moving toward another decision he views as a “victory for its opponents.”
