The ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been officially extended for another three weeks following a high-stakes meeting at the White House.
President Donald J. Trump announced the development on Truth Social today, citing a productive sit-down in the Oval Office that included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and key diplomatic figures from both nations.
The diplomatic session brought together a significant roster of officials, including U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, alongside high-ranking representatives from the two Middle Eastern countries.
According to the President, the primary focus of the discussion was maintaining regional stability and bolstering Lebanon’s ability to defend its own borders.

“The Meeting went very well! The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah,” Trump stated in his announcement. He described the gathering as a “Historic Meeting” and noted that the three-week extension is a critical step in ongoing peace efforts.
While the immediate goal of the summit was the extension of the truce, the President also signaled that more formal talks are on the horizon.
He confirmed plans to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House in the near future.
Trump concluded his statement by expressing optimism about the progress made, saying, “It was a Great Honor to be a participant at this very Historic Meeting!”
