President Donald J. Trump today hosted a significant trilateral phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, leading to the immediate establishment of a new mechanism aimed at improving relations between Israel and Qatar.

The call, held today, September 29, 2025, focused on moving past “years of mutual grievances and miscommunications,” according to a readout released by the White House. The leaders accepted President Trump’s proposal to create a trilateral body to “enhance coordination, improve communication, resolve mutual grievances, and strengthen collective efforts to prevent threats.”

A key breakthrough in the conversation was a direct apology from Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding a recent military action. Netanyahu expressed “deep regret” for an Israeli missile strike against Hamas targets in Qatar that “unintentionally killed a Qatari serviceman.”

Furthermore, the Israeli Prime Minister apologized for violating Qatari sovereignty during the attack, which was conducted while targeting Hamas leadership during hostage negotiations. Netanyahu “affirmed that Israel will not conduct such an attack again in the future.” READ: American Citizen Released By Taliban In Prisoner Exchange Effort

Prime Minister Al Thani reportedly welcomed these assurances, signaling Qatar’s “readiness to continue contributing meaningfully to regional security and stability.”

The leaders underscored their shared commitment to working together constructively and building on their respective long-standing ties with the United States. They also discussed a proposal for ending the ongoing war in Gaza and the broader prospects for a more secure Middle East.

President Trump concluded the call by praising both leaders for their willingness to take concrete steps toward greater cooperation “in the interest of peace and security for all.” The new trilateral mechanism is viewed by the administration as a critical step toward de-escalating tensions and fostering deeper regional security cooperation.
