Trump Declares “Big WIN For Justice” As Georgia Supreme Court Disqualifies Fani Willis

The court’s refusal to hear the appeal upholds a lower court’s ruling, permanently removing Willis and her office from the case.

The effort by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to remain on the racketeering case against President Donald Trump and his co-defendants has reached a definitive end. The Georgia Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to review her appeal, upholding a lower court’s decision to disqualify her from the prosecution.

Following the ruling, President Trump issued a statement celebrating the decision as a “Big WIN for Justice and Law in Georgia.”

“The Georgia Supreme Court just ruled that District Attorney Fani Willis and her ‘team’ of Weaponized Prosecutors are DISQUALIFIED, once and for all, from the Fake Witch Hunt against me, and many other Great American Patriots,” President Trump said. He went on to accuse Willis and her “lover, Nathan Wade,” of lying under oath about their relationship, the funds paid to Wade, and their shared vacations.

The disqualification stems from the controversy surrounding Willis’ hiring of special prosecutor Nathan Wade, with whom she admitted to having a romantic relationship. Defense attorneys first raised concerns in January 2024, alleging that Willis improperly benefited from the arrangement. Additionally, a report by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that Willis had falsely claimed all special prosecutors were paid the same hourly rate, as Wade was paid more than the state’s leading racketeering expert.

The Georgia Court of Appeals previously ruled in December 2024 that the trial court “erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office.” The Supreme Court’s decision to not hear the case effectively solidifies that ruling.

“Just like the purely political, lawless, and dismissed Witch Hunts brought through the Biden White House by Deranged Jack Smith, and others, this Unconstitutional Georgia Hoax, together with the remaining Shams in New York, should now be dead for good,” President Trump’s statement continued. “The Prosecutorial Weaponization of DONALD J. TRUMP had no limits. They went after their Political Opponent at levels never seen before, and LOST.”

Trump’s lead Georgia defense counsel, Steve Sadow, also praised the decision in a statement, calling it a “proper decision” that should “bring an end to the wrongful political, lawfare persecutions of the President.” He added that Willis’ misconduct was “egregious and she deserved nothing less than disqualification.”

Jeff Clark, a former White House official and one of the defendants in the case, also reacted to the news on X, stating, “I’m pleased to announce that Fani Willis has now been permanently disqualified from prosecuting the indictment that she brought against President Trump, me, and many others.”

The case will now be transferred to the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia, which will be tasked with appointing a replacement for Willis. Willis’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

President Trump concluded his statement by saying, “They are now CRIMINALS who will hopefully pay serious consequences for their illegal actions… Our Country was dead a year ago, in large part because of the illegal Weaponization of the American Justice System by the Radical Left Democrats. As we end illegal Political Lawfare, the U.S.A. is BACK now, bigger and better than ever before. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
