President Donald Trump claimed a win in the “War on the Climate Change Hoax” on Wednesday after billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates published a blog post critiquing a “doomsday view” of global warming.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump wrote, “I (WE!) just won the War on the Climate Change Hoax. Bill Gates has finally admitted that he was completely WRONG on the issue. It took courage to do so, and for that we are all grateful. MAGA!!!”
The President’s comments followed a Tuesday memo from Bill Gates, who argued that while climate change will have “serious consequences,” the idea that it will “decimate civilization” in a few decades is “wrong.”
This stance marks a notable shift from past warnings of climate catastrophe by Gates.
Despite his move away from “climate alarmism,” Gates’ memo, released ahead of the COP30 climate summit, still advocates for continued efforts to lower carbon emissions.
However, he urged the climate community to make a “strategic pivot,” prioritizing affordability, innovation, and minimizing human suffering over a narrow focus on near-term emissions goals.
