President Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to reveal a major shift in the Middle East conflict, claiming Iran’s leadership has officially requested a ceasefire as U.S. military pressure reaches a breaking point.
The announcement sets the stage for a high-stakes national address tonight at 9 p.m. ET, where the President is expected to outline his terms for ending the hostilities.
The President praised the shift in Tehran’s leadership while maintaining a position of overwhelming strength.
“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!” Trump posted. However, he made it clear that American military might will not let up until global energy security is restored, adding, “We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”

The breakthrough comes just a day after the White House indicated that the war could be concluded within two to three weeks.
While Iran’s foreign minister had previously attempted to project a sense of defiance—claiming on Tuesday that the country was prepared for a long-term war lasting six months—the President’s latest update suggests that the administration’s “maximum pressure” strategy is yielding results much faster than skeptics anticipated.
The President has consistently argued that a “new, and more reasonable regime” in Tehran would eventually be forced to the table. By conditioning any peace deal on the Strait of Hormuz being “open, free, and clear,” Trump is prioritizing the restoration of global trade routes that have been choked by the conflict.
As the nation prepares for tonight’s 9 p.m. update, the focus remains on whether the Iranian government will meet Trump’s demands for total maritime transparency or face the continued “Stone Age” consequences of the U.S. air campaign.
Despite earlier denials from Iranian officials regarding direct talks, the President’s announcement indicates that the U.S. is now dictating the terms of the war’s endgame from a position of undisputed leverage.
