Trump Endorses Byron Donalds For Florida Governor, Backs Key State GOP Leaders

President Donald Trump announced a sweep of endorsements for high-profile Florida Republicans, throwing his support behind U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds in his bid for governor alongside state leaders James Uthmeier, Ashley Moody, and Wilton Simpson in posts published on Truth Social.

In his endorsement for the open governor’s seat, Trump called Donalds a “TOTAL WINNER” who has been tested at the highest levels. Pointing to Donalds’ family—his wife Erika and three sons—Trump stated that Donalds would work closely with him to advance an “America First Agenda” as governor.

Trump outlined key priorities for Donalds, including securing the border, stopping migrant crime, bolstering the military, protecting veterans, advancing energy dominance, cutting taxes and regulations, promoting American-made products, and defending the Second Amendment.

Donalds issued a public statement following the announcement.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for the honor of your endorsement,” Donalds said. “I will not let you down. We will defend the Florida Dream!”

Trump also gave a full endorsement to Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, describing him as an “America First Warrior” and a champion for MAGA policies. Calling Uthmeier “THE MAN behind ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ,” Trump cited his argument before the U.S. Supreme Court defending executive power to fire federal bureaucrats. Trump also highlighted law enforcement milestones under Uthmeier, stating that “over 1,000 CRIMINAL PEDOPHILES have been arrested” and missing children saved during his tenure.

For the U.S. Senate, Trump backed fifth-generation Floridian Ashley Moody, pointing to her previous six years of service as the state’s attorney general. Trump commended Moody for working to grow the economy, lower taxes, strengthen the military, combat illegal immigration, and protect gun rights.

Rounding out the Florida slate, Trump endorsed Wilton Simpson for re-election as Agriculture Commissioner. Describing the fifth-generation Floridian, egg farmer, and former state Senate president as an “incredibly effective Voice for Florida Agriculture,” Trump pointed to Simpson’s 6.1 million votes in the 2024 election. Trump stated that Simpson would continue fighting for farmers, ranchers, lower taxes, border security, and energy production.

Throughout the endorsements, Trump emphasized his political ties to Florida, noting his victories in the state across the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections while offering his “Complete and Total Endorsement” to each candidate.
