President Donald Trump revealed a last-minute extension of his ceasefire deadline Sunday evening, announcing that “very positive discussions” with Hamas and key regional nations have made rapid progress toward a peace deal that includes the release of all hostages.

The announcement came just minutes before the 6 p.m. ET Sunday deadline—a point in time the President had warned would trigger “all HELL” against Hamas if his framework was not accepted. Instead of issuing the promised threat, Trump released a statement on Truth Social that affirmed the success of the weekend’s talks.

Deadline Passes, Negotiations Accelerate

“There have been very positive discussions with Hamas, and Countries from all over the World (Arab, Muslim, and everyone else) this weekend, to release the Hostages, end the War in Gaza but, more importantly, finally have long sought PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump wrote.

The President confirmed that rather than collapsing, the negotiations have accelerated: “These talks have been very successful, and proceeding rapidly.”

As a result, Trump has moved the process forward, announcing that “The technical teams will again meet Monday, in Egypt, to work through and clarify the final details.”

“First Phase Should Be Completed This Week”

Speaking to reporters Sunday evening, Trump affirmed the positive turn, stating, “I am told that the first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST.”

The President reiterated the urgency of the moment, warning that any delay could be catastrophic: “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW — SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!”

The diplomatic push, which Trump had earlier hailed as “unprecedented,” requires Hamas to immediately release all captives and transfer control of Gaza to an “International Stabilization Force.” The initial breakthrough was conditional on joint agreement from all Palestinian groups and endorsement from Arab and Muslim nations.

The President had previously credited key nations—including Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan—with applying coordinated pressure to secure Hamas’s initial commitment. The focus now shifts to Egypt, where technical teams will attempt to “clarify the final details” and cement the agreement’s first phase.
