President Trump issued a blunt rebuke Monday to a prominent ally, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), after she publicly criticized his focus on foreign policy, suggesting he should instead prioritize non-stop domestic policy meetings.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, the President dismissed the congresswoman’s remarks after being asked about her comments, which also included a claim that grocery prices were up, contrary to the President’s statements.

“I don’t know what happened to Marjorie,” President Trump said. “She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think.”

The President strongly defended his administration’s emphasis on global affairs, arguing that a U.S. leader must view the role from a worldwide perspective.

The World is a ‘Worldwide Situation’

President Trump stressed that isolating the U.S. from global issues is impossible, citing the potential for conflict to reach American shores. He asserted that a president “sort of have to watch over the world because you’re going to be dragged into it otherwise.”

He claimed that the world was on fire and that a bad presidency could easily lead to major wars coming to American soil. Referencing the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he suggested the situation could have escalated. “I think if I weren’t president… that war could have led to World War III,” he stated.

Criticism of Greene’s Understanding

The President also suggested that Greene’s comments demonstrated a lack of understanding regarding the interconnected nature of global and domestic policy, asserting that when someone “goes over and starts making statements like that it shows she doesn’t know.”

He gave the example of China’s monopoly on rare earth magnets, which are critical for manufacturing cars, televisions, and internet infrastructure. He explained that a foreign policy action—threatening 158% tariffs—was necessary to ensure the U.S. supply, proving that international engagement has direct domestic economic consequences.

President Trump concluded by arguing that global commerce and trade deals are vital to the country’s economic health, noting that “the world is turning out to be our biggest customer.”
