Trump Launches Project Freedom: U.S. To Lead Mass Evacuation Of Trapped Ships From Hormuz Strait

The United States will launch a large-scale maritime extraction operation on Monday morning to escort neutral foreign vessels currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. Dubbed “Project Freedom,” the mission aims to provide safe passage for dozens of ships caught in the crossfire of ongoing Middle Eastern hostilities.

President Donald Trump announced the initiative following requests from multiple nations that are not parties to the regional conflict but have seen their crews and cargo stuck in the restricted waterways for months.

According to the White House, the operation is being framed as a humanitarian gesture to assist “innocent bystanders” who have no stake in the fighting. Reports indicate that many of the trapped crews are facing deteriorating conditions, with some ships running dangerously low on food, water, and sanitary supplies.

The President noted that the ships and their crews are “victims of circumstance” and that most have indicated they will not return to the area until navigation is deemed safe again.

While the operation involves the movement of U.S. assets to guide the ships, the administration emphasized that diplomatic channels remain open. President Trump stated that U.S. representatives are currently engaged in “very positive discussions” with the Iranian government.

The White House suggested that this coordination could serve as a goodwill gesture to de-escalate tensions, specifically crediting Iran and other Middle Eastern nations for their potential roles in allowing the ships to depart.

However, the humanitarian mission comes with a strict warning. While the President described the move as a show of goodwill, he made it clear that the safety of the extraction is a priority.

“If, in any way, this Humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully,” the President stated.

Project Freedom is scheduled to begin at dawn on Monday, marking the first major attempt to clear the commercial backlog caused by the recent violence in the region.
