President Donald Trump announced that Iran’s underground Pickaxe Mountain facility is a active target for potential U.S. military action, telling the Iranian government to prepare for a strike “relatively soon”.
Speaking during a broadcast interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump discussed the current state of U.S. operations against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure following a breach in ceasefire agreements. During the exchange, Hewitt noted that three Iranian nuclear sites had already been hit, but raised questions regarding a fourth suspected underground complex at Pickaxe Mountain.
When asked if he would demand International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections inside the deep tunnel network before negotiating any future diplomatic agreements, Trump affirmed he would insist on it. He stated that U.S. intelligence maintains a visual lock on the location.
“They don’t have it, because we have eyes,” Trump said during the interview. “You know, with Space Force and everything else. We have a lot of eyes on it. But Pickaxe is a possible, you know, possible target for a nice, big, fat shot right into the front door. And I think that you’ll, maybe you’ll see that. I’ll tell them right now.”
Trump dismissed Iran’s defensive capabilities, pointing to a lack of functional navy and air force assets while criticizing media portrayals of the nation’s economic and military standing. He noted that domestic inflation inside Iran had surged significantly.
Addressing Hewitt’s assertion that Pickaxe Mountain remains firmly on the administration’s active military target list, Trump confirmed the site is under strict surveillance despite a current lack of observable operations on the surface.
“No, it is on the list,” Trump said. “We’re watching it closely. We see no activity there. They’re not doing well with their nuclear situation. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up. So they don’t like talking about it. But we’ll probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon.”
The President concluded the interview segment by reiterating the direct warning to Iranian authorities regarding the facility: “We’re going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be ready.”
