President Trump took to Truth Social to clarify his stance on escalating tensions in the Middle East, flatly denying that the Israeli government influenced his decision to move toward a potential war with Iran.
Addressing rumors that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “talked him into” the current military posture, Trump insisted his motivations were rooted in long-standing policy and recent events rather than foreign pressure.
The president cited the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel and his career-long conviction that Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon as the sole drivers of his administration’s actions. Despite the aggressive rhetoric, Trump suggested a path toward diplomacy if the political landscape in Tehran shifts.
“The results in Iran will be amazing — And if Iran’s new leaders (Regime Change!) are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!” he posted.

The clarification comes at a time of heightened regional volatility, particularly as Israel expands its military operations into Lebanon.
While traveling aboard Air Force One late Friday night, Trump was questioned regarding his relationship with Netanyahu. Reporters specifically asked if the president felt frustrated with the Prime Minister for launching strikes in Lebanon while international partners were attempting to broker a ceasefire.
Trump dismissed the idea of a rift between the two leaders, describing their working relationship as solid despite occasional policy friction.
“No, look, he’s been a very good partner,” Trump told reporters on the flight. “No, we disagree on some things, but he’s been a very good partner.”

For now, the White House appears focused on a dual-track strategy of military deterrence and the public encouragement of a change in Iranian leadership.
