Trump Vows “No Money” if “Communist” Candidate Implements “Radical” Policies
The political tremors from Zohran Mamdani’s stunning victory in the New York Democratic mayoral primary are still shaking the ground, and now, President Donald Trump has weighed in with a fiery warning that’s sending shockwaves across the nation.
In a no-holds-barred interview on Fox News Sunday’s “Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo,” President Trump lashed out at the progressive primary victor, declaring Mamdani a “pure communist” and vowing severe consequences for New York City if his policies take hold.
“He’s a communist. I think it’s very bad for New York,” Trump asserted, his voice laced with disbelief. “But let’s say this, if he does get in, I’m going to be president and he’s going to have to do the right thing or they’re not getting any money. He’s got to do the right thing.”

Mamdani’s unexpected surge in Tuesday’s primary has left political analysts scrambling, with many suggesting his success could pull the Democratic party further left in future elections. But for President Trump, it’s a step too far. He expressed shock at the rise of a candidate he once believed the country would “never have,” let alone as mayor of its largest city.
The interview took an even sharper turn when host Maria Bartiromo informed the President of Mamdani’s controversial stance on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Mamdani has publicly stated he would have Netanyahu arrested if he visited New York, citing international law, despite the U.S. not being a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Oh, he’s a radical left lunatic,” Trump shot back, encapsulating his strong opposition to Mamdani’s progressive platform.

Mamdani’s campaign has been built on a staunchly progressive agenda, advocating for taxpayer-funded initiatives such as free buses, childcare, and city-run grocery stores. His proposals also include limiting police presence in New York City, and his outspoken anti-Israel views have ignited widespread criticism.
Further fueling the controversy, Mamdani has publicly criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), branding the agency a “rogue” organization after the arrest of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander by ICE agents. “If this is what ICE is willing to do to a comptroller of the city of New York, imagine what they are willing to do to immigrants whose names you don’t even know,” Mamdani stated.
As New York City braces for a potentially transformative mayoral race, President Trump’s stern warning on national television has just raised the stakes, promising a battle that will undoubtedly be as fierce as it is closely watched. The question now looms: will New York heed the President’s warning, or is the city ready to chart a dramatically new course?
