In a blistering attack delivered just ahead of former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s highly anticipated public testimony, President Donald Trump excoriated the prosecutor, dismissing him as “deranged” and a “sick son of a b*tch.”

The remarks, made during a White House press briefing on Tuesday, mark a significant escalation in rhetoric as Washington prepares for Smith to appear before the House Judiciary Committee. The hearing is expected to be the first time the former special counsel answers questions in a public forum regarding his federal investigations into the president.

“He’s a sick son of a b*tch,” Trump told the audience, referring to Smith. “They gave me the worst of the worst… how did that happen?”

Trump did not limit his grievances to Smith alone. He broadened his attack to include other legal adversaries, specifically naming New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

“Leticia James is sick, and Alvin Bragg is sick. They’re sick people,” Trump said, characterizing the prosecutors as “radical left Marxists” who he claims weaponized the justice system against him.

The president also touted his administration’s recent moves to clear out what he termed “handpicked” prosecutors from the Department of Justice. “Ended Joe Biden’s weaponization of our government and removed his handpicked radical left Marxist prosecutors… like deranged Jack Smith,” Trump declared.

These comments set a volatile stage for Smith’s upcoming appearance on Capitol Hill. The hearing follows a contentious closed-door deposition in December 2025, where Smith reportedly told lawmakers that his office had developed “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” that Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the 2020 election results.

Smith also defended the integrity of his team, pushing back against claims of political bias.

While the federal cases against Trump—involving alleged election interference and the mishandling of classified documents—were effectively ended following his 2024 election victory and subsequent inauguration, the political battle over the investigations continues to rage.

House Republicans have aggressively probed Smith’s conduct, while Democrats have sought to publicize his findings as a matter of historical record.

As Smith prepares to take the public stand, Trump’s latest barrage ensures that the former prosecutor will face not only the bright lights of the hearing room but also the full force of the president’s bully pulpit.
