President Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar and Somali immigrants during a White House Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, declaring he does not want them in the United States and labeling the Minnesota congresswoman “garbage.”
The President dismissed concerns about political correctness as he railed against immigration from Somalia, suggesting those who criticize the U.S. should return to their countries of origin.
“I don’t want them in our country. I’ll be honest with you, OK. Somebody will say, ‘Oh, that’s not politically correct.’ I don’t care,” Trump said. “Their country is no good for a reason. Their country stinks, and we don’t want them in our country.”

Trump’s comments came as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem sat nearby. The remarks align with a push within the administration to restrict entry from specific nations. On Monday night, Noem advocated on social media for a “full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies.”
A source familiar with the administration’s planning indicated Tuesday that approximately 30 countries could soon appear on a restricted list.
While the President noted he could speak similarly about other nations, he focused his harshest rhetoric on Somalia and Omar, a progressive Democrat and Somali-American he has frequently targeted. Trump described Somalia as “barely a country” with “no structure” where people “just run around killing each other.”
Turning his attention to Omar, who has served in Congress since 2019, Trump questioned her competence and character.

“I always watch her,” Trump said. “She hates everybody. And I think she’s an incompetent person. She’s a real terrible person.”
He escalated the attack moments later, grouping Omar with her political allies.
“Her friends are garbage. These aren’t people that work. These aren’t people that say, ‘Let’s go, come on, let’s make this place great.’ These are people that do nothing but complain,” Trump said.
He concluded his remarks on the subject by suggesting that immigrants who are unhappy in the U.S. should leave.
“You know, if they came from paradise, and they said, ‘This isn’t paradise,’ but when they come from hell and they complain and do nothing but b—, we don’t want them in our country,” Trump said. “Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.”
