Trump Vows To Bypass Democrats To Fund DHS By June Deadline

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he is moving forward with a plan to fund law enforcement and immigration agencies by June 1, bypassing the Senate filibuster and Democratic opposition.

In a statement posted to Truth Social, the President outlined a strategy coordinated with House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Leader John Thune to replenish budgets for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol.

The President stated that the funding process will utilize legislative maneuvers to avoid “Radical Left Democrat votes,” while calling for the immediate repeal of the Senate filibuster.

“We are going to work as fast, and as focused, as possible to replenish funding for our Border and ICE Agents,” Trump wrote. He set a firm deadline for the legislation, requesting the bill be on his desk for signing “no later than June 1st.”

According to the statement, the administration is currently using funds from “The Great Big Beautiful Bill”—the legislation responsible for recent national tax rebates—to cover payroll for ICE and Border Patrol agents during the ongoing budget standoff. Trump claimed this ensures agents are paid “on time and in full” despite what he described as a “Democrat Shutdown.”

Throughout the post, the President drew a sharp contrast between party platforms ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

He characterized Republicans as the party of “Law Enforcement,” while alleging that Democrats “want to defund the Police, Border Patrol, and all Immigration Enforcement.” He further asserted that Democratic leadership, including Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, had allowed millions of “unvetted and unchecked” individuals into the country during the previous administration.

The President’s message served as an explicit call to action for the November elections, urging citizens to reflect on past border policies and “vote Republican for the midterms.”

Trump concluded by promising that immigration enforcement will continue uninterrupted and that the border will remain secure under the current funding strategy.
