Trump Vows To Keep Strait Of Hormuz Open, Touts China Deal: Expects “Big, Fat Hug” From Xi

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social Wednesday that he is “permanently opening” the Strait of Hormuz, claiming a major diplomatic win involving China and Iran.

In a post shared early in the day, Trump suggested that the move would stabilize the volatile waterway, which serves as one of the world’s most critical oil transit points. According to the former president, the decision was made with Beijing’s interests in mind.

“China is very happy that I am permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz. I am doing it for them, also – And the World,” Trump wrote.

The post detailed an alleged agreement with Chinese leadership, asserting that Beijing has agreed to stop providing military aid to Tehran in exchange for the maritime opening. Trump claimed that his relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping has strengthened as a result of these negotiations.

“They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran,” the post continued. “President Xi will give me a big, fat, hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly, and very well!”

While the announcement focused heavily on the benefits of cooperation, Trump also included a reminder of U.S. military capabilities. He framed the current diplomatic path as a superior alternative to conflict, though he maintained a firm stance on American strength.

“Doesn’t that beat fighting???” he asked his followers before adding, “BUT REMEMBER, we are very good at fighting, if we have to – far better than anyone else!!!”

Trump expressed total confidence that the current arrangement would prevent future maritime blockades or regional instability, stating, “This situation will never happen again.”
