Trump Was Not Acting With Angry Retort to Being Forced From Hollywood Union

Hollywood loathed former President Donald Trump.

Frothing at the mouth, celebrities perpetually berated him. Some acted out fantasies of assassinating him. Goofy fans vandalized his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Producers and actors are talking about cutting him from scenes in movies in which he appeared.

Despite all that hatred, Trump recently revealed something surprising.

He remained a member of the Screen Actors Guild – the labor union to the stars.

Until now.

On Thursday, Trump, ever the troll, announced his resignation in a letter only he could write.

The correspondence was reportedly in response to the union’s Disciplinary Committee vote to revoke Trump’s membership in the wake of the tragic Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Hard to believe the union hadn’t done so before now.

But Trump, who had been a SAG member since 1989, is accustomed to biting back at those who want to throw him out of office. His letter to union President Gabrielle Carteris, best known for her role in “Beverly Hills: 90210,” did not disappoint.

“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership,” he began.

“Who cares!”

“While I’m not familiar with your work,” he added, “I’m very proud of my work on movies such as ‘Home Alone 2,’ ‘Zoolander’ and ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’; and television shows including ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,’ ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, ‘The Apprentice’ — to name just a few!”

Continuing, the 45th president wrote, “I’ve also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics) and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others.”

“Which brings me to your blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union,” penned Trump.

“Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me — besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas — as evident by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, ‘Why isn’t the union fighting for me?'”

“These, however, are policy failures. Your disciplinary failures are more egregious,” he wrote.

“I no longer wish to be associated with your union,” he concluded.

“As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resigning from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.”

In response, Carteris and the union’s National Executive Director David Whit offered a simple statement:

“Thank you.”
