President Donald Trump delivered a stark ultimatum to House Republicans at a Tuesday retreat, pivoting from celebrating foreign policy wins to a grim domestic forecast: if the party fails to hold ground in the 2026 midterm elections, he believes his impeachment is inevitable.
Addressing a room of lawmakers in the nation’s capital, the President initially struck a triumphant tone, touting the recent operation by U.S. forces that led to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

“You gotta win the midterms ’cause, if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just gonna be – I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me,” Trump told the gathering. “I’ll get impeached.”
The warning underscores the high stakes of the upcoming election cycle, where the President’s legislative agenda hangs in the balance.
Voters will decide the fate of every seat in the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate. The urgency of Trump’s message also reflects recent anxieties within the party, following a string of losses in special elections and weaker-than-expected performances in districts traditionally viewed as Republican strongholds.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need to effectively sell the administration’s policies to a public currently frustrated by the high cost of living.
