WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – A collision in Wesley Chapel on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a 61-year-old motorcyclist, according to a report released by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 PM at the intersection of County Road 54 (CR-54) and Retail Road, west of Old Pasco Road.
According to FHP, a Jeep Compass, driven by a 35-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel, was exiting Retail Road onto CR-54. At the same time, a Suzuki motorcycle, operated by a 61-year-old Wesley Chapel man, was traveling westbound on CR-54.
The crash happened as the driver of the Jeep attempted to enter a median turn lane. In doing so, the Jeep entered the path of the oncoming motorcycle, and the Suzuki subsequently collided with the vehicle.
