TAMPA, Fla. — An early morning shooting on Friday left two people dead inside a local residence, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of North 15th Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police discovered a woman in her mid-20s and a man in his mid-50s, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The man was transported for treatment but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Authorities confirmed that the two individuals knew each other and stated there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding public.
Three young children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Police confirmed none of the children were harmed, and all three have since been safely reunited with family members.
The Tampa Police Department described the incident as an active and ongoing investigation, noting that further details will be released as they become available.
