Two local women were arrested Wednesday night after allegedly attacking another woman and stealing several hundred dollars from her at a residence on Ocean Breeze Avenue.
Kristin Ray Rutan, 40, and Desiree Natasha Downer, 35, both of Marathon, were arrested on Aug. 5, 2026, and each charged with robbery.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. to a nearby gas station, where they met with the victim.
According to law enforcement, the victim stated she had been invited to the Ocean Breeze Avenue home prior to the incident. Once there, she reported that Rutan and Downer attacked her and took up to $300 in cash.
First responders noted the victim sustained cuts and bruises to her head, hands, and legs. No life-threatening injuries were reported.
Deputies located Rutan and Downer shortly after the initial call. During the investigation, officers found approximately $200 in cash in Downer’s possession. Both women were taken into custody and transported to the county jail.
