Two Men Arrested For Attempted Murder Following St. Petersburg Shooting, Pursuit

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident and subsequent police pursuit on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:42 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2200 block of 14th Avenue North. The investigation revealed that two men approached another man as he exited his vehicle and fired several shots at him.

While the victim’s car was struck by bullets, the victim was not injured. The two men then fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima without a license plate.

Officers spotted the Altima and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The Altima eventually stopped at 5th Avenue North and 40th Street North, where the two men exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A K9 team quickly apprehended both suspects.

An assault rifle was found in the backseat of the Altima, and a handgun was recovered nearby. Investigators determined that the suspects and the victim knew each other and had been involved in a dispute.

The two men arrested are Keon Dawson and Raymond Adams.

Dawson is charged with attempted murder 1st degree, throwing a deadly missile, criminal mischief (2 counts), felon in possession of a firearm, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, and fleeing and eluding.

Adams is charged with attempted murder 1st degree, throwing a deadly missile, criminal mischief (2 counts), discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and felon in possession of a firearm.
