Two Tampa Men Arrested For Alleged 105 MPH Race On I-4 In Polk County

Two Tampa men face charges after a high-speed pursuit near Davenport early Sunday morning.

DAVENPORT, Fla. – Two Tampa men, both 23, were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday morning after they were allegedly caught racing at speeds of 105 mph on Interstate 4.

At approximately 2:09 a.m., a deputy spotted a tan Honda Civic and a black Volkswagen Passat weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed. The vehicles, driven by Micah Crouch and Christian Gonzalez Cornelio, were traveling 35 mph over the posted 70 mph speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated on both cars. The drivers were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail. They now face charges of Dangerous Excessive Speed and Racing.

According to Deputy Nester, both men expressed surprise at their arrest for their high-speed actions.
